Sexy Wine Series
“Excellent with pizza, pasta, ribs and most breakfast cereals (kidding about that last one). We really don't make it in the bathtub, but it looks like fun. A bountiful body with skimpy close.”

That is the description on the back of a bottle of wine I picked up the other day. It’s called Brayzin Hussy Red, by Bray Vineyards of Shenandoah Valley, California. |

Sexy Wines Series

The current installment of our “Sexy Wines” series features another vino grown in the Lodi wine region of Northern-Central California.
This wine is called “The Other.” The name is short for “This, That and the Other.” This wine is estate grown by Peirano Estate Vineyards. The Peirano family has owned and operated their vineyards for over 100 years.
So why is a family winery producing a wine with a scandalous label? As you can see, the label features a sketch of the naked backside of a very attractive woman.

There’s a lot of competition out there for your wine-buying dollar. Some wineries have found unique ways to get vino drinkers’ attention. Marketing definitely plays a role in what you and I buy. So, a few innovative wineries are playing the “sex card.”
Sex sells. No doubt about it. A wine drinker might pick up a bottle because of a slightly scandalous or playful label. But the proof is in the pudding, or the wine glass in this instance. If a wine is not up to snuff, that consumer will never buy it again, no matter how racy the label is. |

TANIS VINEYARDS

Ever pick up a bottle of wine and wonder, “How did they come up with that label?” I do it all the time because I’m always coming across bottles with crazy labels and wacky marketing. I have to admit I love it.
When you pick up a bottle of Tanis Vineyards wine you see grapes and poison oak, surrounded by a wedding ring. There has to be a story behind that. Well, there is. It’s a love story.
