Sexy Lady

Just a few weeks ago, I was cruising up and down the aisles of my local Bel Air Supermarket.  Of course I had to visit the wine section to check out what was there.  Hey, that’s part of my job!

I’m pretty fortunate because my supermarket has a pretty nice little wine selection.  In fact, the store has wine tasting every Thursday evening.  They know how to keep me coming back.  But I digress…

While I was doing my job and inspecting the wine selection at Bel Air, I noticed that there are some very provocative labels out there.  I mean down right, in your face, sexy.

When I got home, I hopped on the computer and started to research these sexy wines.  I remembered a friend commented on how much he liked the “sexy chick” on the bottle of Kestrel Vintners’, “Lady in Red” and that he liked the red table wine even more.  The bottle featured a shapely lady in a slinky red dress.

Sexy Lady

Online, I found out that Kestrel also had a holiday (3rd edition) “Lady in Red,” red wine blend, featuring a leggy red head, wearing a short, little elf outfit.  That’s when the idea hit me.  I’m going to get on Santa’s naughty list this year!

Sexy Lady

Who says sexy wine in just for just for Valentine’s Day or a romantic occasion?  After all, wine IS sexy.  How many of us are on the planet because our parents drank some wine and threw caution to the wind?

So I got on the horn to Kestrel Vintners in Prosser, Washington (Yakima Valley wine region), and had three ladies sent to me… stat.  The wine arrived within days.  And my friend was right, the wine is very good.

Even though I’m a little partial to red wine, my favorite of this bunch was Kestrel’s Pure Platinum (Edition 4).  This 2007 blend of Gewürztraminer and Viognier got me in that holiday “sweet” mood.  Of course I may be biased because I’m blonde and bottle features a fair haired lady.

Sexy Lady

Leo Kirk, National Sales Manager for Kestrel Vintners tells me I’m in a large group of fans.  “The response we’ve had to our Lady in Red and Pure Platinum wines has been great,” said Kirk.  “Many people buy the wine for the bottle, but keep buying it because they love the wine.”

These Lady in Red special edition bottles sell out quickly.  The artwork on the bottles is inspired by World War II era pin up models called, “Vargas Girls.”  Some past editions have ended up on eBay, sold as collector items.

Because there are so many sexy wines out there, I’ve decided write a series of articles, featuring seductively labeled wines throughout the year.  So if I’m not on Santa’s naughty list yet, I’m sure I’ll make by Christmas of 2009.

This holiday season I am going to brazenly take sexy wine to all my holiday parties, give it as gifts and serve it at my house.  I hope to raise a few… eyebrows.

Check out the winemaker’s notes and food pairing suggestions for three of Kestrel’s sexy Lady in Red wines.

This wine possesses a deep color which fades to a red-purple hue at the edges.  In the aroma you will find luscious ripe blueberry, blackberry, currants, fig, plum and holds layers of blueberry, cranberry, dark ripe fruits and died herbs.

Lady in Red, Edition #6, Non-Vintage ($12.00)

This wine possesses a deep ruby-red color, centering to near black.  In the aroma you will find blueberry, cherry, red currant and elderberry fruit flavors.  These are balanced by tea, tobacco, cedar, earth, sweet red pepper, black pepper and vanilla which expose themselves in the glass.  The wine ripples with bright intense red fruit flavors, and finishes with linger cherry, dried herbs and tobacco notes.

Pure Platinum, Edition #4, 2007 Vintage ($15.00)

Sexy wines
written by Ruth Zerbel, February 02, 2012
I am a retailer on the Oregon coast and I have access to several sexy wines. We have been Kestrel wine fans and have carried there wines for 4 years. We recycle painted wine bottles, by melting them down and making cheese servers out of them. Other recommended sexy wines: Naked Winery labels like Penetration, Tease, Foreplay, etc. If interested in purchasing wine, email me. We ship to most states. Purchaser must be 21.

I have the whole collection of unopened bottles. I love it. You are right the wine is superb but the bottles are smokin hot. People I know love to see them when they come over. Im really hoping there is another Lady in red HOLIDAY editon for 2010. I havent seen it yet and I have emailed Kestral about it. Keep collecting them! They are unique. Some day they may be worth what the Marilyn Monroe/merlot line is selling for. The first 10 bottles from 1986-1996 is called a verticle set valued at $10.000.!! Back in the day when they came out you coudd purchase each one for $12.99 ! Take care.
Martin.
