Forage: to seek, rummage, hunt; to wander or go in search of provisions.

HEALDSBURG, Calif., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- This spring, Simi winery will partner with some of Sonoma County's finest farms and artisanal food producers to premiere Simi Spring Forage: a Sonoma County Wine & Food Adventure, Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, 2009. Simi Forage, a bi-annual event, is designed to invoke the rich bounty and diversity of Sonoma County--from sea, farm and vineyard to kitchen, table and glass--complete with a hands-on forage pizza cook-off.

The Simi Spring Forage weekend kicks off Friday evening with a reception, local artisanal farmer presentations and a tasting menu featuring fresh, seasonal, regional foods and artisanal products perfectly paired with Simi wines. Saturday morning begins with breakfast at the local artisan bakery, followed by a foraging trip to the Healdsburg Farmers' Market. From there, guests will be transported to regional farms and a vineyard for tours, tastings and a country picnic lunch. At day's end, all will return to the winery for hands-on preparation--composing the day's foraged ingredients to create individually-inspired pizzas.

Simi Spring Forage will take place the first weekend in May in conjunction with the season opening of the Healdsburg Farmers' Market, and Simi Fall Forage will take place the last weekend in September in conjunction with Sonoma County Farm Trails' "Weekend Along Farm Trails." By bringing together artisanal farms and producers with guest participants, Simi Forage will highlight the community spirit of Sonoma County's sustainable farming practices and lifestyle.
